Ophthalmologist Stephen Powell, MD, will be retiring on February 29, 2024,
following more than 40 years serving patients in our region.
Dr. Powell began his career as an ophthalmologist in 1983. In 1987, he began
working in private practice in Morgantown. In the early 1990’s he founded Regional
Eye Associates and expanded the practice to better serve patients. Under Dr.
Powell’s passionate leadership, Regional Eye Associates has grown to include
several talented physicians that provide personalized and compassionate care to
the community across six locations.
His pioneering efforts in the late 1990’s to establish one of West Virginia’s only
ambulatory surgery centers changed the outpatient surgical services landscape.
The establishment of this facility allows patients to receive surgical services
at a fraction of the cost while maintaining the highest standards of care.
The entire team and Regional Eye is honored to have served alongside
him. His contributions to our team, his patients and the community
are unmatched.
